Information about the SNUSBCA Hall of Fame

PURPOSE:   To honor, pay tribute to, and perpetuate the names of men and women who have contributed to the growth and welfare of the great game of bowling by their bowling ability and/or through meritorious service to the SNUSBCA.

Nomination to the SNUSBCA Hall of Fame is open to all bowlers and non-bowlers who by their efforts have furthered the interests of the American game of tenpins in Southern Nevada.

Nominations must be submitted using the SNUSBCA forms created for this purpose.  The forms will be available at the Association Office, most bowling centers, and online at www.sonvbowl.com.  The nomination must be signed and received by the SNUSBCA not later than May 15th to be considered in the current year.  Individuals submitting nominations must send or deliver them to the following address:  SNUSBCA, Attn: Hall of Fame Committee, 3111 S. Valley View Blvd, Ste.O-102, Las Vegas, NV   89102.

NOMINEE QUALIFICATIONS:

Any person (League Officer, Proprietor, Sponsor, Press, Radio or Television Personality, Star Bowler, Association Officer or Director, etc.) who has demonstrated long-term or significant contributions to the bowling community and meets the following requirements is considered suitable for nomination/election:

  • All nominees must be, or have been, actively associated with the SNUSBCA (or one of its pre-merger related organizations) for at least 15 years to be eligible for consideration.  This does not have to be continuous service.
  • Items of consideration for the nomination in the Meritorious Service category include, but are not limited to the following:
    • Local/State/National office held (years)
    • Local/State/National committee service (years)
    • Promotion that created growth of the game
    • Obtained recognition for the game
    • Promoted public acceptance of the game
    • Service to the bowlers
    • Special Honors (State Hall of Fame, Industry Awards, etc.)
  • Items of consideration for the nomination in the Superior Performance category include, but are not limited to the following:
    • Highest season league average
    • Highest certified game and series
    • Number of career certified 300 games, 700 series, & 800 series
    • Local/State/Regional Association records set
    • Local or State Association titles
    • National Professional Tour titles
    • Regional Professional Tour titles
    • National Collegiate titles
    • Other National or Regional tournament titles
    • ABC/WIBC/USBC Championships (Top 10 finishes)
    • USBC Masters, Senior Masters, USBC Queens, Senior Queens (Top 10 finishes)
    • International competition ( FIQ, World Cup, Tournament of the Americas, etc.)
    • Team USA accomplishments
    • Participation in USBC Open and Women's Championship tournaments.
  • Nominations will be retained and considered for a five year period beginning when their nominations are received in the SNUSBCA office.  Nominations for individuals not selected in the five year period may be resubmitted after the five year period.  Nominations that have been selected may be updated at any time during their 5 year period with new information.

METHOD OF SELECTION:

Voting for Hall of Fame inductees shall be made by anonymous written ballot by the association Board of Directors, Current Hall of Fame members, and the Managers of the Bowling Centers served by the SNUSBCA.  Ballots must be postmarked not later than June 1st of the current year to be counted.

There will not be a limit to the number of nominees that an eligible voter may cast their ballots for.  A nominee must appear on two-thirds of the votes cast to present a nominee for election to the Hall of Fame.  The selections shall consist of no more than 6 nominees per year.  Should more than 6 receive the minimum of a two-thirds vote, the six nominees who receive the most votes (plus ties) will be selected for induction for the Hall of Fame.
