JEANETTE ROBINSON
In the late 1950’s, Jeanette’s husband encouraged her to use sports as a means of self-expression. He knew his wife well. In her years as a bowler, Jeanette has demonstrated more than her skill as an athlete. She has expressed the discipline and determination that were within her. Jeanette applied the timing and coordination she had learned as an avid softball player to bowling. In only about 5 years, she had assumed her place as one of bowling’s stars on the AMF Staff of Champions. A few years later, in 1967, she coached the U.S. team in the F.I.Q. in Sweden. Jeanette assumed the Presidency of the Professional Women’s Bowling Association in 1965 – an office she held for an unprecedented 10 years, and during her time on tour, managed to win 2 professional titles. She even found time to host a weekly 30-minute radio show The Bowling Question Box, on WAMM in Flint, Michigan. Despite all her activities off the lanes, Jeanette continued to accumulate credentials on the lanes. In 1978, Jeanette joined the staff at Showboat Lanes as Resident Pro, heading up promotion at the lanes. Her accomplishments since moving to Las Vegas include the 1979 LVWBA Team, Doubles, and All Events Titles; and the LVWBA Invitational Championship in 1982. Jeanette held the high average for women in the state of Nevada for two consecutive years (205 in 1979-80 and 1980-81).
