HAROLD "Hal" GAYMON
Inducted:
1993 - Superior Performance
Born in Camden, New Jersey, on May 22, 1930, he grew up in Merchantville,
now known as Cherry Hill, New Jersey. At the age of 21, he entered the Air
Force.
His successful career of 20, years with the Air Force took him to Sampson
A.F.B., New York, Chanute A.F.B., Illinois, Clark A.F.B., Philippines,
Harlingen A.F.B., Texas, McGuire A.F.B., New Jersey, Incirlik A.F.B.,
Turkey, and, finally, he landed at Nellis A.F.B., from which he retired and
remained in the Las Vegas area.
At the age of 12, he began working as a Pin Boy and consequently started
bowling that same year, and he's been bowling ever since.
During his Air Force career, he captured a number of team and individual
titles including: McGuire All Events Champion (twice), Military Air Lift
Command Singles and All Events Champion, Northeast Area All Events and
Doubles Championships. While bowling with the Nellis Team, they won the
Charles Brown Classic. He was also a member of a championship team in the
Sam Boyd Classic Trio.
He has averaged over 200 on a number of occasions, his most recent on record
was an even 200 in 1988. He has bowled several series of 700 or better, his
most memorable being 708 for 24th place in singles in the ABC National
Championships. He has one 300 game to his credit.
He's been an ABC member for over 45 years and been with the SNBA for over
25. He is currently a Director on the SNBA Board and has held the position
of Vice President.
