JANET KUHN  (Deceased)

Inducted 1994 - Meritorious Service

Janet Kuhn began bowling in 1957 in England.  She was a newlywed living on a military base and bowling seemed an inexpensive recreational outlet.  Janet was an ‘occasional’ bowler for ten years before joining her first league.  Once she began league bowling, however, her managerial skills started growing from team captain that first year, to Presidency of the LVWBA.  Janet has always been known for her forthright manner.  Never one to be afraid to voice a thought, if she feels there are some inequities in whatever level of bowling she is involved in, she is not bashful about expressing her opinions.  It was on one such occasion, after expressing her sentiments over a perceived inequity and complaining to the President, Janet found herself becoming a member of the Board of Directors of the Las Vegas WBA.  One of Janet’s most memorable bowling moments came in 1986 when she presented the bid for the Las Vegas WBA in front of 3,500 delegates at the WIBC convention in Anaheim, California.  “Between knocking knees”, Janet spoke to those 3,500 women and told them all about wonderful and playful Las Vegas.  Janet shares her love of bowling with her husband, Walt, her daughter and grandchildren.  Walt has been equally involved in the men’s association, rising to the office of President of the Southern Nevada Bowling Association, so it’s not uncommon to see both Janet and Walt highly involved in all facets of bowling management.  While focusing her skills in a managerial way, Janet has also maintained a respectable bowling skill, highlighted by her winning the LVWBA Match Game Elimination Tournament.
