WALT KUHN

He was born in Bayshore, Long Island, New York, in December, 1934.   At the age of eleven he moved with his family to a dairy farm in the Catskill mountains in upstate New York.   He graduated from Grand Gorge High School in 1953 and entered the U.S. Air Force in August that same year.   In 1962, he came to Nevada where he was stationed at Nellis AFB.   Two years later he and his family were off to Okinawa.  In 1966 he was back at Nellis.   He became a sanctioned league bowler in 1967 at Nellis and has been involved in the sport ever since.  I n 1970, he was of to England for a three year stint at R.A.F. Upper Hayford AFB.   The Base had a bowling center as did an adjoining base, so he kept on bowling, and became involved with the AJBC (now YABA).   He retired from the Air Force in 1973 and became a permanent resident of Las Vegas.   He became a Corrections Officer for the Metropolitan Police Department and retired from that position in 1987.    Walt has been involved in bowling in one way or another most of his adult life. He supported and was involved in many of the activities of the Las Vegas WBA, an Organization of which he is an Honorary Member,  by contributing his time and effort to tournaments and many of the other activities of the LVWBA.    In 1987, he became a Director with the Southern Nevada BA.   He became a Vice President in 1989 and served as President from 1992 to 1994.   He is a Certified Lane Inspector and served as Chairman of the Lane Certification Committee, a joint committee that provides lane certification services for the Southern Nevada BA and the women's associations of  the Las Vegas WBA, Henderson WBA,  and Boulder City WBA.
