JAMES G. "Jimmy" GILLIARD
Inducted: 1999
- Meritorious Service
Most bowlers will recognize him as the bowling center worker,
the lane mechanic, the ball driller, and a bowler; he is all of that and
more. Jimmy has been a member of the ABC and the SNBA
for over 32 years.
Truly dedicated to the sport, Jimmy has spent most of his life involved in
bowling. During his years at College Park, Charleston Heights (Arizona
Charlies), West Hills, all long since gone, and his continued service to Nellis
300 Lanes, Jimmy showed his love for the game through his devotion to
working with the children just learning how to bowl. He has worked with
many children over the years and today, these children have grown to adults
who have benefited and profited from the knowledge of the game Jimmy
instilled in them.
In addition to his contribution to the sport of bowling, Jimmy has
demonstrated his abilities as a bowler on several occasions. In 1993 He was SNBA Doubles Champion with Steve Sherman, and was a member of four
championship teams in the Showboat Military Classic, a tournament in which
he bowled a 750 series and a 300 game during competition in 1995.
He may be that bowling center worker but his skill, knowledge and love of
the game are his greatest attributes. He gave of himself to ensure the
bowling center was in tip top shape to make it better for others to enjoy
the game as much as he. Today he is working as head mechanic at Nellis 300
Lanes and his contributions continue on.
