JUDY OSTROFF

Inducted 2000 - Meritorious Service

Judy came to the USA from Germany in 1957.  She started bowling in Inglewood, California in 1959 in a travel league that had a sweeper in Las Vegas.  In 1965, widowed with a small child, Judy moved to Las Vegas.  Judy’s service with the LVWBA board began in 1977.  She served as a Director, Sgt. at Arms and 2nd Vice President.  She was a delegate to the national convention 15 times and a WIBC Assistant Sgt. at Arms 8 times.  She served on all committees as whether as a member, chairman, or advisor.  She was made Member Emerita of the LVWBA in 1990.  Judy’s participation and service to the sport of bowling didn’t stop with the LVWBA.  She was a NWBA director and director at large a total of 12 years and for her contributions to the state was made a Member Emerita in 1997.  Other bowling related organizations benefited as well, including the local 500 Club and the local and state 600 Clubs.  Judy is always eager to learn and in 1991 went to a certified lane inspector’s workshop.  At the end of the two day course, Judy received her certification.  Judy wants everything that she does and is responsible for to come out right.  To that end she sometimes becomes a one person army.  There is never any doubt that if a job was entrusted to her it would always be done, and done well.
