WENDY MACPHERSON
Named the Woman Bowler of the 1990s by Bowler's Journal, Macpherson had already established herself before the decade began, often as the youngest: The youngest to roll a 300 game, at the age of 14; the youngest to win the BPAA U.S. Open, at 18; and the youngest to win the WIBC Queens tournament, in 1988, when she was 20. She joined the LPBT tour in 1986 and was named rookie of the year. The following season, she led the tour with a 211.11 average. She also had the top average in 1999 with 218.85, an all-time high. Through 2003, Macpherson had won 20 tournaments, including six majors. She and Millie Martorella are the only women to win the WIBC Queens tournament three times. Macpherson won in 1988, 2000, and 2003. She also won the Sam's Town Invitational twice, in 1990 and 1999. Macpherson was the tour's leading money winner in 1996, 1997, 1999, and 2000. She holds records for a season winnings, with $165,425 in 1997, and career winnings, with $1,238,960. She was the WIBC All Events Champion in 1995 and has been on the WIBC Team Champion in 2000, 2003 & 2004. Finally, in 2006, she did what no other woman had ever done, won the Singles Championship at the USBC Open Championships in Corpus Christi, TX with an 812 series. |
