Tom Enright was born in Las Vegas on April 30, 1958. He started bowling in 1969 at West Hills Lanes when he was only 11 years old. He worked odd jobs at West Hills in exchange for free bowling. During that time Tom quickly became one of the best junior bowlers in Las Vegas history. He continued working in and around Charleston Heights Bowl and the most famous center in bowling history - Showboat Lanes. Tom became a member of the SNBA in 1975 and was a member of the PBA from 1979 to 1984. Due to work obligations his bowling career became quite limited and an injury in 1996 prevented him from bowling for 3 years. He resumed bowling in 1999 and rolled a 300 game on the 2nd night of his return to league bowling. Tom has accumulated an extensive list of accomplishments in his bowling career. Tom's junior bowling accomplishments include: 1975 Scratch All Events and Team Champion; March 8, 1975 - first junior bowler in history to bowl 300 at Showboat Lanes; First junior bowler in state history to average over 200 for an entire season (206 for 120 games); Pacific West Coast Junior Bowling Championships all time qualifying record with Harold Mountain (2291); Pacific West Coast Junior Bowling Championships All Tournament Team (1st ever from Nevada); AJBC Top 10 in the Nation for his 300 & AJBC Star of the Lanes; AJBC Honor Roll for a 289 & 772/774 series; Nevada State Junior series state record (772); Junior State Record 4 game series of 1011. Tom's accomplishments in adult leagues and tournaments include: 1977 SNBA Scratch Team Champion; 1977 SNBA Handicap Team Champion; 1977 SNBA Scratch All Events Champion (2084); 1977 SNBA Butch Guccioni Trophy for High Scratch Series (756); 1977 1st Annual State Mixed Tournament Scratch All Events Title (2107); 1977 Annual State Mixed Tournament Doubles Title with Shirley Tophigh; 1977 - 300 game in PBA Western Open at Showboat Lanes; 1978 SNBA City Tournament Scratch Team Champion & Handicap Team Champion; 1985 SNBA City Tournament Scratch & Handicap Team Champion and Scratch All Events Champion (1977). Throughout his career Tom has averaged over 200 with his high of 226 coming in the 2004-05 and 2005-06 seasons. Tom has also volunteered countless hours coaching and helping out bowlers in the Las Vegas area. Tom has 11 - 300 games with the most recent coming in the West Coast Senior Tournament at the Silver Nugget Lanes in April 2007. Tom will go down in Las Vegas history as one of the best HOME GROWN bowlers to ever come out of this area. |
