LINDA STERNER

Inducted 2008 - Meritorious Service

Linda Sterner has been involved in the sport of bowling for over 30 years.  She not only enjoys participating in the sport but also demonstrates dependability, integrity and leadership.  In the early 1970's, Linda was introduced to the sport of bowling in the Philippines where her husband was stationed for an extended period of time.  After returning to the United States, the Sterner family moved to Las Vegas and Linda began her involvement in the bowling leagues at Nellis Air Force Base.  In the early 1980's, Linda volunteered her time, sharing her love of the sport with the young adults in the community, as she coached youth bowlers in addition to serving as Secretary/Treasurer of the organization.  Then in 1983, after becoming certified as a youth coach through YABA, Linda was elected to the Southern Nevada Association Young American Bowling Congress as a board member and later served as a Vice President.  Linda continued her dedication to the sport by being elected to the position of Secretary/Treasurer of the Enlisted Mixed Doubles League, a position she still holds.  Not only has Linda maintained her position as Secretary/Treasurer for over 2 decades, she has also encouraged the league to give back to the community.  Linda has encouraged the league to donate to the Youth Bowlers Scholarship Fund where thousands of dollars have been raised to promote higher education.  Throughout the 1980's, Linda dedicated her time to the sport by serving the LVWBA as a board member for seven years.  She held the office of Secretary for one year, served on various committees and was sent to several cities as the delegate for the National Conventions.  Linda also has been certified by the ABC/WIBC to complete lane certifications.  Therefore for the last 20 years, approximately 15 times a year Linda can be found accurately writing pit measurements bright and early at 6:00 AM.  This behavior clearly supports Linda Sterner's dedication to the sport of bowling in Las Vegas!
