Billy Das has been competing at a high
level in bowling in Southern Nevada for over 28 years and is also one of the
best known pro shop operators and ball drillers in the country. After moving
to Las Vegas from Cleveland, Ohio in 1982, Billy was quickly introduced to
the local bowlers, working in the pro shops in the Showboat, Charleston
Heights Bowl, and at College Park Lanes. Finally, starting in 1989, he owned
and operated the pro shop at the Gold Coast. He operated that pro shop until
1994, when he sold the shop to the Gold Coast. SNUSBCA Hall of Fame member,
Mike Monyak, then took over. The following year, he went to work for Las
Vegas Bowling Supply, a company that he still works for today. Billy became
well known on
the national stage after starting to work at the ABC (USBC) National
Tournament running the Columbia booth (operated by Las Vegas Bowling Supply)
starting in 2000 at the tournament in Albuquerque. After 6 years with the
Columbia booth, they changed brands and have operated the Storm booth ever
since. Billy has drilled balls for many of the 60,000 plus bowlers that
attend the Open Championships each year, with many, many repeat customers
each year. Over the years, he has also been on the staffs of the Ebonite,
Columbia, and Storm bowling ball companies. Billy is a high caliber bowler
and has at least 16 - 300 games, and has had 11 in a row
at least 14 other times. Billy has also had 8 - 800 series, with a high of
846 in 1997. He has consistently averaged over 200 while living in Las
Vegas, with a high average of 231 in 1999. Billy has many top 10 finishes in
SNUSBCA tournaments and won the Nevada State All Events title in 1986, and
also was part of the Nevada State Team title champions in 1999. ln 1993 in
Tulsa, OK his team finished in 1Oth place in the ABC Championship
tournament.
