TOURNAMENT RULES FOR THE 2007-2008 SO. NV. JR. GOLD TRAVELING SCRATCH TOURNAMENT

It is the bowlers’ and parents responsibility to read and understand these rules! Membership on the tour is open to boys and girls from the age of 12 to 21 as of August 1 of 2007. One half of the tour members must hold a Gold Card with USBC Youth. Boys need a 21 game average of 175 and Girls a 165 average to apply for a Gold Card. Any individual under suspension by a responsible league official and/or USBC Youth shall be ineligible to participate on the tour.

Schedule and Team Roster: The Southern Nevada Junior Gold Traveling Scratch Tour (hereafter called “Tour”) consists of one (1) member per team with a maximum of 72 teams per week. This Tour bowls on Sunday for 26 weeks commencing on August 12th , 2007 and ending on May 4th , 2008. The following dates will be byes:
Teams will bowl four (4) games per week, moving one (1) pair to the right after each match. There will be 3 teams on each lane.
Fees: Each bowler will be charged a one fee of $175.00. The breakdown being:
Any bowler who does not have the necessary average needed to qualify may still register with the tour for $50.00. The breakdown of funds will be:
If, during the season, the average is met to qualify for a Junior Gold membership and would like to go to Nationals, the bowler will be responsible to pay the remaining $125.00. All funds not used will go towards scholarships at the end of the season
Qualifiers: The Tour will have several qualifiers at the Texas ( Sept 23rd , Oct 28th , Jan 26th , Mar 2nd, April 20th). The first 4 games will be included in the game total for the tour, 2 more will then be bowled to finish the qualifier. In order to qualify all bowlers who are interested in attending the National Tournament, you will be required to bowl all 6 games of the qualifiers if you show up that day.
Management: The management of this league will consist of the Tour Officials and League Advisors. A majority shall constitute a quorum. Absentee and proxy votes are not acceptable and only members present are eligible to vote. All league members must be members of the SNUSBC Youth and at least half of the league must be Jr. Gold Members. As the Tour Executive Chuck McCloskey has the authority to override all policies of the League, that are not in compliance with USBC rules, or that may harm in some way the Youth members of the League. These policies can be changed without a vote of the tour.
Tour Fees: Fees will be $20 a week with the exception of the qualifiers which will be $25.00 ( Sept 23rd , Oct 28th , Jan 26th , Mar 2nd, April 20th). Fee breakdown is as follows:
Personal checks will be accepted for league fees, provided they are made payable to the name of the Tour (Southern Nevada Junior Gold). Personal checks will not be accepted in the last 3 weeks of bowling. Any bowler who has a check returned for insufficient funds will be charged an additional fee of $25.00 and future checks will not be accepted. There will be no exceptions. The fee for qualifying rounds at the Texas will be $25.00.
Shortages: This is a tournament style event each week, therefore there will be no shortages allowed.
Makeups/Prebowls: This is a tournament style event. There will be no make ups or prebowls allowed.
Banking: The Tour shall make all deposits into the Southern Nevada Jr. Gold Checking account at Wells Fargo Bank. This account will be monitored by the Executive Director and the league adult accountant. Withdrawals from the account shall be made only with the joint signatures of two advisors and the approval of 1 League Officer. An annual audit will be performed in May of each year as the league prepares to deposit with Smart.
Position Points: Bowlers will earn five (5) points each week for attending the tournament in addition to placement points. Based on the total number of boys, and total number of girls registered with the tournament, will determine the total points given out weekly. All Boys are competing against all boys bowling that day in the tournament. All girls are competing against all the girls that day. First place in the boys division will receive 60 pts, 2nd place will receive the total number of boys registered that day in the tournament minus one, 3rd place will receive the total minus 2, 4th place etc. The top girl will receive 30 points for the day, 2nd place will receive the total number of girls that day minus 1, 3rd place minus 2, etc. If a bowler is absent and wants to receive the 5 points available for being present, he can pay the $10.00 into the travel/scholarship fund for the week and receive the 5 points. However, he/she must do this the first week after returning from the absence or forfeit those points for good. Practice will start 15 minutes before the scheduled start time. The bowling start time will 9:30AM each Sunday. Check-in will begin at 8:30AM.
League Playoffs: In the event of a tie for first place in the team standings, the best 2 out of 3 games w/total pins not to count.
Awards: The following is a breakdown on the awards options: Please note: All awards and stipends will not be paid until after the completion of the National tournament with the exception of air travel. Receipts are required in order to be reimbursed. Bowl 60% of the season (16 weeks)
Bowl 70% of the season (20 weeks)
Bowl 80% of the season (22 weeks)
The total points for the season will determine the overall league champions (appropriate boy/girl ratio) who will qualify for the National Junior Gold Tournament held in Detroit, MI. All scholarships money will be held by SMART, Account #9815. This is a reimbursement program for the youth; you must attend the Nationals first, and then turn in receipts upon returning to be reimbursed. Bowler Etiquette and Miscellaneous Items: Foul Line. The foul line will be observed at all times. Intentional fouls will not be tolerated. A bowler who deliberately fouls will be disqualified for the rest of the match.
Bowlers behavior. IMPORTANT! All members will conduct themselves like young ladies and gentlemen at all times. Kicking of ball returns, hitting of chairs or scoring table, and slamming equipment will result in an automatic disqualification for the match in progress and may result in a suspension for the next week. There will be no smoking or profanity on the lanes, in the bowling area or center during OR after league. The league officials may suspend a league member for an infraction of a USBC Youth rule or a league rule, other than the eligibility rule for a period not to exceed three (3) weeks. Bowlers will not sit on any tables or counter tops in the bowling area. No electronics will be allowed in the settee area, cell phones should be turned off or placed in the vibrate mode. If you must make or receive a call, step to the back of the settee area, if you hold up bowling you will be skipped and not be allowed to finish that game. Parents behavior. Parents are asked to support all the bowlers but are to remain in the spectator area during league play. In accordance with USBC Youth rules, parents will refrain from smoking or consuming alcohol while league is in session. If you wish to smoke or drink , please move to the bar or an area that down past where league is being held. There will be no parents in the settee area once bowling has begun, parents should remain back behind the counters or carpeted area.
Dress code. IMPORTANT! Tournament Shirts provided through the tour are required for bowling each week. Pants, jeans and shorts are acceptable if clean and in good condition (no holes, etc). All other clothing is subject to approval by league officials. No bare mid sections or spaghetti strap tops, tank tops (wife beaters), t-shirts or shirts with alcohol or tobacco will be allowed. (If you raise your arms straight up to the ceiling and your mid section shows, the shirt is too short and is not allowed.) No pants with the crotch sagging to the knees or dragging on the floor will be allowed. No hats will be worn in the settee area.
The 2007-2008 USBC Youth Rule Book will cover all other rules not covered by these rules.
