Bobbi Hoven passed away peacefully on the afternoon of May 29, 2023. Bobbi Hoven was involved with coaching of our youth bowlers and with Special Olympics for over 40 years. She was the coordinator of Special Olympics Area Bowling Games in Nevada since 1985, the coordinator of the Special Olympics State Bowling games since 1988, and the Head Coach of the Nevada International Bowling Games since 1991. She has been involved with the Summer State UNLV Games, the Clark County Unified Games, the Nevada World Games, and was a technical delegate to the Special Olympics World Games in Ireland in 2000. Bobbi was also been a local board member of the YABA starting in 1980, serving as Vice President from 1985 – 1991, and its President from 1991 – 1995. She became a registered Coach/Instructor in 1990, a Master Instructor in 1994 and has been a Bronze and Silver Level coach since 1997. Bobbi has received many awards including the 1993 Special Olympics Nevada Coach of the Year, the 1997 National Fred Borden Coach of the Year, and was named one of the “Top 100 Bowling Coaches” by the Bowlers Journal in 2005. She was inducted into the Southern Nevada USBC Association’s Hall of Fame for Meritorious Service in 2006. |
