Southern Nevada Hall of Famer Marge Wilkes passed away on Sunday, April 30, 2023). Marge had a long history of bowling involvement. She bowled in adult leagues since 1961 and was been a member of our bowling association since 1996. Marge’s passion was to be a teacher not only to our youth, but the mentally and physical challenged people promoting a higher meaning of life. Marge went to work in 1995 at the Showboat Bowling Center on a part time basis in the youth bowling office with Bobbi Hoven. As a result, she got very involved with the youth bowling program as well as the Special Olympics program. As she stated, this is her first love where you could always find her volunteering 3 times a week. Marge’s caring heart and the attention she gave to the athletes, families and volunteers that work with them was exemplary. She did her best to see that each person felt uplifted and had a sense of accomplishment after each event. “It’s all about the athletes, not her”, she said, ensuring they had fun along with the competition. Marge’s endless patience, compassion andpositive attitude earned her an induction into the Southern Nevada USBC Association’s Hall of Fame in 2014 for Meritorious Service. |
